Description
Artemisia-annua is a member of the composite plant family. The plant is also known to many as "annual mugwort".
Artemisia-annua is native to warm summer rainfall areas from China through northern India and Iraq to southeastern Europe. In Germany, Artemisia-annua grows along the Elbe River.
As the name "annual mugwort" suggests, it is an annual plant that can grow to a height of up to 2 meters in summer. Although its stem is usually completely bare, it has many side shoots that produce yellow, cup-shaped flowers when in bloom. In addition, its leaves resemble bright green feathers.
Worth mentioning: The best-known ingredient in annual mugwort is the so-called artemisin, the extraction of which helped Chinese pharmacologist Youyou Tu win the Nobel Prize in 2015.
